It works as a sound-card and I have to use it as output in system preferences otherwise I cant listen from my studio monitors. Seems like it does not work in Lion… No sound at all. I am able to get the EQ to work, but I have to do everything over each time I start up my computer.
This can also be done at startup if you write a little apple-script which will do this every time your computer boots. I can provide code if needed. I followed the instructions and voila! Works a treat! Thanks mate…AS. I got this to work alright but how do I get this work with my Apogee Duet? Mac built in sound card is crap. Tried tinkering with AU Lab input and output and still get nothing but feedback loop.
Somebody explain please….

The volume increases a little, but it also distorts. Does anyone know how to increase the output volume, without the distortion.
I get that weird buzzing noise as soon as I setup AU Lab. I tried what was suggested, i. I finally got it to work for me but there seems to be a doubled audio effect. It sounds like a flanger or chorus effect. Can you help?

I cannot open the AU Lab. What do I do? Make sure that the General tab is selected. Click the icon labeled Click the lock to make changes. Under the section labeled Allow applications downloaded from:, select Anywhere. On the prompt that appears, click Allow From Anywhere. I have a weird problem with this solution; every time I reboot, I need to create a new document in AU Lab.
Simply creating a new one with exact same settings resolves it. Any idea? Be Sociable, Share! Thank you for this, wonderful tutorial! This is a fantastic utility. My current testing shows this does not work in Lion. Did you ever figure out how to get this to automagically load on login? No, sorry. Never had any luck with that.
